Memorial Day is for every soldier who serves in the USA's military. Brave soldiers from all wars made ultimate sacrifices so others can rest in peace. Many families have lost family members to wars or have family members who are currently serving, and this day is to honor all of those who make sacrifices for America. Berks County is no different, as there are many local heroes in and around Reading, PA. There are even records - which you can see by clicking here - that show Berks County soldiers who served as far back as the French-Indian (Seven Years) War. From the Revolutionary War to current conflicts, Berks County wants to honor all who serve in a unique way.
In addition to visiting the graves of the fallen, taking time to thank those who serve, and sharing quality time with family, no Memorial Day event would be complete without a grand weekend hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Berks County. Strap in for a great weekend and to honor the fallen, as the museum hosts one of the biggest events of the year for Berks County:
The 28th Annual World War II Weekend - "A Gathering of Warbirds"
Where: - The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, Reading Regional Airport, 11 Museum Drive, Reading, PA
- When:
- June 1st - 3rd, 8 am to 5 pm
- Costs:
- Adults - $29 to $32
- Children (6 - 12) - $10 to $13
- Children (5 and under) - FREE!
- (There's also a 3-day pass for $80 - $90)
The Mid-Atlantic Air Museum, located just outside of Reading, PA is hosting a massive event for all. The museum is gathering in everything and anything from World War II to honor soldiers and allow visitors to see up close everything from the war. There's tons of stuff for this event, such as 1,700 history re-enactors, dozens of working, vintage aircraft (including both surviving B-29 Superfortresses "Fifi" and "Doc", which you can fly in), hundreds of military vehicles, and endless period artifacts from the war. This is just the appetizer for this Memorial Day special from the museum!
Guests can also explore a sprawling military camp, witness skirmishes, and recreated battles. There's also 40's era dancing, singing, comedy skits, live radio broadcasts, one of the largest militaria flea markets in the country (over 150 vendors), and so much more. The museum is not kidding when it says "1944 will come alive for show-goers" during this event. There's so much to explore with this event, and it's the perfect way to relax with family while also honoring those who served in World War II and those who serve today.

With this awesome event, any Memorial Day event should be spectacular. I know that if my two friends were here for this one, they'd enjoy it. Normally I don't write short posts about events, but this one is special. It wouldn't feel right to ignore this holiday when I have one friend who serves abroad and another who just signed up a month ago to serve. To them, and to all who serve, thank you for your service. And to everyone who has read this blog post, I thank you for supporting the site! I, Fedora Dan, and the amazing team at Cotts Inc. are grateful for every share and like the website gets, and we hope that you'll find awesome events to see.
