Hello Berks County! September is a busy - if not magical - time in the county. It marks the start of a new academic year for colleges, which means new students come to see Berks County while more senior students get to experience the county again. It's on the cusp of fall, including the many festive events the county has. Finally, it marks the start of something big and it's 1 year anniversary. Fall is when I see all of the big events of Berks County begin, and this year is no different. Don't forget to follow the BersCal Facebook page so you won't miss all of the awesome events of the county. Check the calendar for more events, and strap in for the wildest events in Berks County. Bound with community members, soar through the sky, hear monster trucks roar, and tap it all off with a drink from a beer tap as we check out the Best of Berks in these next two weeks. Our events start at Kutztown, where - through community action - the town hopes to claim it's 2nd world record.
Unity in the Community - Largest Water Balloon Toss World Record
Kutztown is no stranger to breaking world records. Last year Kutztown broke the record for largest funnel cake (which was awesome to experience!), and now Renningers wants to give Kutztown a 2nd world record while bringing the community together! The farmers and antiques market is calling on everyone in Kutztown - university students, long-time residents, and more - to come together and promote a message of positivity and inclusion for all. Through community unity, they hope to show Kutztown that anything is possible, including a world record for largest water balloon toss. This two-day event also comes with tons of festivities, including food trucks, vendors for shopping, tons of food, live musical entertainment, a cornhole tournament, a Kutztown color run, yoga in nature, and so much more. This amazing event is completely free to attend and you can help make history by chucking the largest water balloon ever! Come join Renningers and the Kutztown community to experience a world record attempt, local organizations, and more.
If you want to participate in the water balloon toss, you'll need to fill out a forum and submit it to Renningers before the event happens. Included below are helpful links for more information and the forum to sign so you too can make history!

The 11th Annual Boyertown Oktoberfest
After lobbing water balloons, soaring through the air, roaring down the streets, and working hard, it's time to drink to another awesome week. This upcoming event also holds a special place in my heart, as it's one of the first events I covered on FestForschers - before BerksCal took event sharing to a whole new level. With plenty of reasons to celebrate, including the 1 year anniversary of FestForschers, come down to Boyertown to enjoy a true Berks County event! Next weekend everyone can enjoy two whole days of food, crafts, games, music, and (of course) beer. Food vendors will be at Boyertown for both days, and live music will be performed for everyone. There's also the Boyertown Oktoberfest 5K run Saturday morning, crafters all day Saturday, party games, and even two bounce houses. There might even be more to come, as the awesome organization Building A Better Boyertown is currently making menus, drink lists, and entertainment schedules - so check their websites often for more updates. The event is free to attend, and all proceeds spent during the event go to help Building a Better Boyertown host an even bigger Oktoberfest next year, as well as more events and programs to help the town. This event made the featured lists last year and it's earned that spot again; come see why the Boyertown Oktoberfest is one of the best events in Berks County!

Unfortunately, the bottom of the bottle is also the end of this edition of the Best of Berks. It was a treat to see FestForschers when researching the events for this edition. It's the website that started it all for me before the talented people of Cotts Inc. took the blog to new heights. As of this post, FestForschers is officially a year old. It's amazing to think that I've been blogging about Berks County for a whole year. Now, thanks to BerksCal, I hope to keep blogging about Berks County and to show everyone how great the county's events are. If you're curious, you can see FestForscher's website with this link, and you can read about how FestForschers and BerksCal grew with this link.
I'm forever grateful for all who support BerksCal, just as I was on day one of blogging. Each day I find more events because of this, and I've seen tons of people who have had positive experiences with FestForschers and BerksCal. Make sure you follow BerksCal's Facebook page to keep up-to-date on all things Berks County events! Thank you for supporting BerksCal, the Facebook page, and for reading the Best of Berks editions. It's always a joy to write them, and on that grateful note, it is time to end this edition. Thank you again for checking out the Best of Berks, and I will see you all in the next post!
